Visitors and locals can enjoy an immersive experience at Admiralty House Cove this weekend, when the popular cliff-jumping venue transforms into a nighttime showcase of entertainment featuring local and overseas DJs.
“Waves” is a novel pool party-style event designed to attract swimmers on inflatables. It takes place this Saturday, July 13, from 5pm to 10pm at the Pembroke swimming hole, a former British military headquarters that is now part of Bermuda’s national parks system. Incorporating five hours of live entertainment from a floating stage off the North Shore cove, the extravaganza is billed as an adventurous evening on land and water.
“Bermuda’s increasingly youthful visitor adores our water-logged weekends—but may not have opportunities to party with locals. In this popular ocean swimming location with entertainment added to the mix, Waves offers visitors a vibrant connection point to island life,” said Bermuda Tourism Authority (BTA) Chief Experience Development Officer Glenn Jones. “We’re proud to support the young Bermudians making Waves a reality, and we encourage visitors to jump in on this innovative summer experience.”
Produced by Party People Entertainment, the team behind successful events like Fantasy Island, Bacchanal Run, Swizzle King, Carnival Band and Euphoria, Waves features soca, as well as hip hop, dancehall, Afrobeat, and Top-40 performances. Organisers emphasise the area will be restricted to swimmers, not boats, and motorised vessels will not be allowed into the cove.
Admiralty Park will be open for bike parking, while parking for cars is provided nearby at The Berkeley Institute, with free shuttles running between the school and park.
Waves welcomes guests age 18 or older. Admission tickets ($40) are available online via Party People’s website; no tickets will be sold at the gate. Admission buys a re-fillable souvenir cup for drink purchases, and an “island menu” (including jerk chicken and grilled shrimp) will also be offered for purchase. Dress code is swim attire, no jeans allowed. Patrons can take advantage of a complimentary bag check.
