In our new series of interviews we are looking to interview and get to know local Bermudian business owners and entrepreneurs. They can be just starting or been in business for years, but we want to get to know what got them started and what has made them successful.
The goal is to help the community get to know the great people behind the businesses people see and use every day, and to hopefully inspire anyone to start their own business some day….
How did the idea for your business come about?
Carole: I was a stay home Mum and pursued a childhood interest of art
What is the significant difference your business brings to the market?
Carole: Mostly my own designs, packaging as well as my gourmet foods- I am by trade a Professional Chef
How did you decide on the location for your business?
Carole: I have operated businesses in St. George’s, Hamilton and now Dockyard
How important have good employees been to your success?
Carole: I would not be where I am without my terrific staff
Describe/outline your typical day?
Carole: Always changing depending on the business demands
What has been your most satisfying moment in business?
Carole: Training in London, arriving in Bermuda, Marrying my husband and being an entrepreneur
What has been your most successful form of marketing?
Carole: Word of mouth for the past 25 yrs.
How do you build a successful customer base?
Carole: Word of mouth again!
What kind of culture exists in your organization?
Carole: I am mainly a tourist shop specializing in my art, designs and gourmet foods
Excluding yours- what company or business do you admire?
Carole: Diamonds International in Dockyard. The owners started out with a small shop in one of the Islands and now have a chain of over 100 shops including Bermuda
Where you see yourself and your business in 10 years? 20 years?
Carole: I am getting on and love to work , meet my customers and have feed back from them about my work both art and my gourmet foods it is a great joy to receive their comments
